Cancer Council Privacy collection statement

The Cancer Council (as defined below) in the State or Territory in which you are participating in the fundraising activity, or in your State or Territory of residence (as applicable), is the organisation collecting the information in this form for the purpose of registering you for this event or campaign. References in this statement to ‘we’, ‘our’ or ‘us’ are references to the Cancer Council that is collecting your information. You can contact us via the details provided by us on our website.

If you do not provide the mandatory personal information that we have requested from you, you may not be able to participate in the fundraising event or campaign.

Cancer Council will use your details to process your entry to the fundraising event or campaign. We may also send you information and direct marketing communications about products, services, events, fundraising or any other activities which we consider may be of interest to you. You may unsubscribe by contacting us through the details provided within the direct marketing communications.

Cancer Council may disclose your information to our contractors, third party service providers, volunteers and agents so that they may assist Cancer Council with fundraising. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your information is used by these third parties only for this purpose. We may also disclose your information to like-minded organisations to contact you with information that may be of interest to you, including third party service providers who facilitate the sharing of information between such types of organisations. Some of our fundraising and IT service providers may be located in or may store data in countries outside Australia. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further details. You consent to your information being disclosed outside Australia for this purpose. You acknowledge that if such offshore entities handle your personal information in breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, neither Cancer Council nor the third party provider will be accountable under the Privacy Act and you will not be able to seek redress under the Privacy Act. Notwithstanding this, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that your information is used by third parties securely and in accordance with our Privacy Policy and only for Cancer Council fundraising purposes.

We will handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and our Privacy Policy (which is available at the links below or which can be provided to you on request by calling 1300 65 65 85). Our Privacy Policy also explains how you can contact us to access and correct your personal information, or make a complaint about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles.

If you supply to us a dedication message then you assign all rights (including copyright) in that message to us. You agree that we and our third party media organisations may reproduce and use that message in conjunction with your first name and state for marketing and promotional purposes in all formats and in all media in perpetuity. You agree that we will not need to seek any further permission from you or pay or compensate you for that use.
